Welcome to the Hedgehog Forum

  • If you find an injured, sick or baby hedgehog:
  • Don't leave it where it is. Pick it up first & put it in a box,
  • Don't just leave it there,  otherwise it will vanish and die in agony

What makes, or rather, what do we do to become official hedgehog rescues or carers?  I sent off my form months ago to the BHPS to be a registered carer, but they told me in response to an email a while back that they haven't had time to update the list.  I understand how busy they...

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but:-
i've been clearing out the loft and have found 4 hot water bottles, 2 of which have fleece covers and a smaller one with a sheep cover!
Could anybody make use of them for their hogs? I am quite happy to post them to anyone who...

I've spoken to 3 people this week who have found young hogs and phoned the RSPCA for help. All three were told there was nothing they could do. I'm fuming. You would think they'd at least tell the people to grab them, bring them in and phone a vet or the BHPS. I'm going to phone...

I have had a little girl for a week and a half - she was 248g, went up to 325g.  Eating well although fussy, only ate Asda cat in gravy, wouldn't touch cat biscuits until the other day. Refused bird peanuts, but has eaten human ones, loved a little raw chicken, not so keen on mince.

We last weighed Gonzo and Fozzie on Sunday and again tonight and were horrified to see they had put on 100g each since then! Surely that`s not normal, we have been giving Hilife kitten food (one pouch each) and a similar sized bowl of chicken plus kitten crunchies and a few dried meal worm and...

I am concerned about increasing rates of deaths in young hedgehogs brought in in the autumn for the last few years. These animals are lively and eat for a day or 2 then  stop eating and fade out.The usual treatment with Baytril, heat and wormers isn't helping as it should. I have carried...

We have been feeding Hilife kitten food in pouches and they are eating one each a day plus the last few nights they have had a similar sized bowl of chicken between them plus a few kitten crunchies and dried mealworm. We are now planning to switch to...

Just had a phone call and a lady came round with two more little ones. 257 and 297 and both females. YAY!

She found them both huddled up together on a corner of her patio and said she grabbed them because when they went to walk off they both kept falling over. Thank heavens for someone...
