Branston & wilfred are 2 disabled hedgehogs that have been rehomed to a wonderful owner in Ely

They live in a fully walled garden with a tortoise
this is an email she sent me last night:

Be warned - If you don't lock your front door at night, this is what happens!

....and this is the Tortoise house.....but that is definitely not a Tortoise, that is Wilfred Prickles!!

Quote from my Hedgehog book - 'Hedgehogs like a house with a tunnel leading to a bedroom' - obviously this one didn't get to that page!!

The Tortoise was asleep in bed during the 'make-over' and 'take-over' of his home and has now had to find a new lodgings after more than twenty peaceful, undisturbed years.
Would you want to share your bed with a Hedgehog?
Actually it was Branston Prickles who first invaded Mr McGregor's home but while out foraging last night, Wilfred decided he would quite like to move in. At one point during the night they were both in there but by morning Branston had reclaimed it .

The face of innocence!! Looks can be deceiving - if there is mischief to be made, Branston Prickles is there, at the front of the queue!!

Lovely to see such great photos, and a happy outcome for Wilfred and Branston.

Poor old tortoise, but at least he's armour plated if he does decide to make a bid to reclaim his house!

Wilfred came from Harlow ( 15 miles away) with a bitten off back leg in early June. He is young ( born last autumn)
After a couple of weeks of treatment, he went to his new home at the end of June and settled in well

Branston was taken into the wildlife hospital in late June with a badly infected stump after being bitten with the foot hanging off. He had the leg amputated and eventually recovered

He came to me at beginning of August and we noticed he was also partially blind.

He went to live with Wilfred on 22nd August and soon settled in and although much older is much more friendly and approachable and gets into mischief. He is the one who decided that the deluxe, purpose-built hedgehog house wasn't good enough for him, so evicted the tortoise.

Just what I was thinking - a tortoise is about the only thing that *could* share a bed with a hedgehog without much bother.

What great photographs - great names, too - although personally I think that far from being the face of innocence, Branston looks like the little devil he is.  He has an extremely cheeky little face, like the sort of terrier who's going to be into everything.
