Hercules invades Heather's Nestbox H08

These are Wild European Hedgehogs.

Heather ate well then retired to Nestbox #3 (which is full of hay).

An hour later Hercules, who is rushing around a lot at top speed, eats well at the main feeder station. As he leaves, the video clip starts, and he goes past Tunnel #2 (another feeding station), through the enclosure, past Tunnel #1 to Nestbox #3. (Already occupied by Heather)

Great upheavals of the hay! Then a couple of minutes later Hercules flees the scene, no doubt with a ticking off by Heather in no uncertain terms, eventually past the main feeder station and away. At this point the video stops.

Fourteen minutes later Heather has finished her nap and strolls out and about to continue her foraging!

Heaven huffs and batters Heather - not very polite for Lady hedgehogs! H06

Heaven was named because she looked so angelic! But faced with a far smaller Lady hedgehog she chases (rolls!) it away with great vigour and determination.

Note Heaven has three white stripes running from one side to the other and Heather has a large white 'N' on her back.

For Heather this must have been 'Hell' !!!!

These are Wild European Hedgehogs.

The belligerent Heaven having just battered Heather meets Harrison H07

Harrison is smaller than Heaven, but not too interested in having his chance of a snack interrupted by her!

Heaven has three white stripes running side to side whilst Harrison has a big white '+' sign on his back.

These are Wild European Hedgehogs.

Heather starts Huffing and Battering match with Harrison. H04

Heather does not seem in a good mood tonight with Harrison her second huffing match.

These matches seem to occur every spring and seem to be part of hedgehog behaviour though not fully understood, especially the sounds they make.

(This video does not have sound)

Huffing and Battering match between Heather and Hamish H03

Heather has an 'N' on her back and is smaller than Hamish who has a very large 'X' on both sides. Heather attacks Hamish who only just found the garden today! How rude to a new 'guest'!

Bizarre Encounters of a Rodent Kind. H02

A Rat eating peanuts being ignored by Horatio the Hedgehog, then neighbour's cat shows up and gets 'faced off' by the Rat!

Harleyette gets Huffed - but who Wins? H15

The scene is set just near the back door with a feeder bowl under a strange 3 legged device with is a wireless PIR motion detector connected to a doorbell chime, designed to be portable and monitor the tunnels leading into and out of our design for a nest box. Harleyette strolls up and starts munching crushed peanuts, 3 minutes later so does Hazel, who on the whole is both big and aggressive, a sort of huffing match starts but unique to Harleyette is her strategy to cope with huffing. She always keeps her nose pointing at the opposition and slowly goes into reverse. Harleyette is huffed off camera but we watched this from our back door and turned the outside light on, clearly visible on the video. Hazel walks straight across a shallow tray of fresh drinking water edging Harleyette away from the food. Harleyette gets backed between an upturned container and a stone wall, still nose pointing at Hazel. Hazel feels safe enough to start on the crushed peanuts but gets the idea that we are watching her and rushes off to the main feeder station elsewhere in the garden. Harleyette emerges from her position of safety and calmly gets stuck into her crushed peanuts, then saunters off
