Hi everyone

Just after doing my weekly deep clean (of the housing not the hogs!) and felt the need to share what I think make great hedgehogs bedrooms Grin.  They are designed for some type of small pet, and you can get them from Pets at Home.  They are great for the hogs to make their little nests in, and they are really easy to clean Cheesy.  Trouble and Snuggles seem to like them.

I have attached a photo.

Yes they are good, I have a couple of these. I think they are designed for guinea pigs. I use them to put food under in the outside run as well, and they can come in handy in an 'emergency' as a temporary house when doing a soft release (so long as they are wedged in somewhere). The even smaller ones (designed for hamsters) which come with a bottom part as well are also great for baby hogs to make their beds in (I line them with newspaper and an old face flannel then give them a fleecy hat or something on top and they snuggle in, keeps them lovely and warm).

Don't you find the bedding gets damp and smelly from breath and sweat? I have something similar in my cages and I've had to drill holes in the top so they can breathe otherwise water condenses on the top and drips down. I only use them now when I've run out of other options, which seems to be most of the time lately  Undecided

No I haven't noticed that - I will check carefully tonight.  I am using shredded newspaper for bedding, before that used fleeces.  The Igloos themselves are always dry inside.  Will feel newspaper carefully  Huh

Gill I had a good check tonight - no condensation or wet bedding found.   Mine have slits at the back for ventilation, do yours?  Wonder if they changed the design?   Huh

The hamster ones have vent holes all around and they don't seem to get very wet partly because of that and partly because I only use them for teeny hogs. There is sometimes a bit of condensation on the 'roof' but not very much, bedding is always dry (unless it's been weed on of course and teeny hogs are so messy in their beds that the bedding gets changed every day anyway).

I have two boys who insist on sleeping in one together, even though they have one each. Every day I have to strip out all the bedding as it's wet and it's not wee.

I would like to see Trouble and Snuggles try to get into one together!!

Def no condensation or wet bedding.  But I do want to go for something bigger so they can get more bedding in.
